PROGRAMS & SERVICES
I Ola Lāhui finds a variety of ways to meet the needs of communities using our unique set of skills and perspective. Each of our programs meets a specific community need in a culturally-mindful and evidence-based way.
Advocacy
We understand the importance of change at a system level, participating in joint initiatives, and uplifting the voices of our community. We participate in mission-driven advocacy work as an organization and through partnerships.
Nā Limahana o Lonopūhā Native Hawaiian Health Consortium is a collaborative of health leaders invested in the health and well being of Native Hawaiians. Through strategic collaboration and leveraging of resources, NLOL has created innovative programs, jointly spoken on issues affecting Native Hawaiian health, and created a space of collaboration and support for health leadership.

Organizational issues such as starting new initiatives, shifting organizational values
Research & Evaluation
We conduct research and evaluation projects for programs and services related to behavioral health, chronic disease, service delivery to rural and underserved communities, and culturally minded interventions. These projects are based on programs developed and implemented by I Ola Lāhui staff and trainees as well as through partnerships with other organizations in need of our support and expertise.
I Ola Lāhui is unique in that our faculty contain doctoral level psychologists with expertise in research methodology as well as cultural and behavioral health practices with a specific emphasis on Native Hawaiians and other medically underserved groups. This combination of skills makes us well suited to play a role in larger efforts to conduct research and evaluation of indigenous health service delivery across a wide variety of problem areas.
One recent research project is a study of the viability of implementing a measure of the social determinants of health in Native Hawaiian, medically underserved, and rural communities as part of comprehensive treatment planning. A second study examines the outcome data of Kūlana Hawai'i, a culturally-minded weight management program.
